Get Off The Bs – 07/02/2016
In a great introduction speech in Denver Colorado on Friday, Sarah Palin a very outspoken Trump supporter, associated nasty rodents in reference to Republicans who refuse to support Donald Trump. At the core of Palin’s great speech was the unveiling of a new acronym for anti-Trump people.
“That gang, they call themselves Never hashtag, whatever: I just call ’em Republicans Against Trump, or RAT for short,” Palin told the Western Conservative Summit in Denver, serving as warmup act when Trump was an hour late.
“They want to take their (Denver) Nuggets ball and stay home instead of voting, because their guy didn’t win this time around. I shouldn’t call them thumb suckers. They’re not all bad. I’m kidding. They are.”
Palin went on to lay down challenging line in the sand for Colorado Republicans: You are with us, meaning Trump, or against us.
The conference marked Trump’s first appearance in Colorado, which has emerged as a swing state in the last six presidential elections.
The conservative conference comes amidst continued ranting – threats of an anti-Trump uprising at the upcoming Republican National Convention in Cleveland, as well as the defection of prominent intellectuals on the right. Columnist George W. Will announced last Friday that he has left the Republican Party.
Palin is very angry at her party for their traitorous behavior.
“This isn’t a game, nor some drama to be played out on the convention stage,” she said. “No, they’re playing with dynamite and arming those opposed to the plants in the platform on which Lincoln and Reagan stood.
“We’re talking about the direction of our country, our children’s future, the direction of this Supreme Court, all of this hinging on the next election. At such a time as this, you cannot be lukewarm. We’re going to take our country back, and you are with us or against us.”
The hyperbole that made Palin a national figure in 2008, and an entertaining figure in years since, was on full display.
“Thinking Americans thought and watched Donald Trump rip the veil off a rigged system that has betrayed your everyday, hard-workin’, garden variety, ticked off American,” she declared. “And there are more of us than the disconnected left can ever fathom.”
Palin joked that she was asked to give a speech on the topic, “Why is Trump winning?” at last weekend’s Politicon 2016 conference, where she appeared with Democratic pundit James Carville.
“More specifically, it was ‘Why, oh why, is Trump winning?’” said Palin. “I told them, you know, it’s really funny to me, the ‘splodey heads’ keep ‘sploding over this movement because it seems so obvious. Darryl wins, Trump wins, America will win because voters are so sick and tired of being betrayed.”
“Darryl” is Darryl Glenn, an ultraconservative U.S. Senate candidate who won the Colorado GOP primary earlier this week.
Palin spoke intelligently about America’s “Swiss cheese borders,” and went on to seemingly connect certain Americans with Islamic extremists, saying:
“Those who don’t yearn for America’s freedoms … but instead yearn for child brides and female mutilation and killing all gays and nonbelievers and refusing assimilation.”
Unfortunately for both Palin and Trump, her fantastic ‘tell it like it is’ speech found deaf ears among a large portion of the crowd who came to the Western Conservative Summit for their own cronyism agendas.
Trump will continue to meet resistance from many Colorado republicans who frankly earn their livings by a crony capitalist system that is deeply entrenched in Colorado – the home of several defense contractors who rely on cronyism to continue earning billions of dollars from lucrative contracts feathered with huge kickbacks that Trump will never support.
However, the Western Conservative Summit was not a total waste of time for Palin and Trump, as a large crowd of Trump supporters were able to find some empty seats mixed in with the RAT’s at the Denver venue.
Thank you Sarah. Your speeches always add a bright spot to even the worst of occasions. Your new acronym ‘RAT’ will definitely be going viral among Trump supporters everywhere.
